We invite local reporters who are credible, passionate and knowledgeable about the things that are happening right in their area --to submit first hand reports based on our ongoing community assignment desk, which we call categories below.    We accept stories that are under reported or totally avoided by other mediums.   If one story is accepted, and it is found to be credible - your title will be the area reporter at Plan B Insider!  For example:  Jane Doe, Los Angeles Community Reporter 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Categories

Breaking News:  News items that deal with crime investigations that involve African Americans (or Blacks in other countries or of African origin), Investigative Reporting as it pertains to the Black Community and issues of foul play of any kind, Black missing children, discrimination and racism, and local political government as it affects the Black community.  (BN)

Human interest stories:  We accept stories that profile leaders.  The leaders must fall in the following categories:  Chief Executive Officers of a Fortune 500 company, Child Prodigies, Doctors, Judges, Mayors, Super Lawyers, Scholars, Military Officers, Scientists, Employees of the Month, Philanthropists and Celebrity Endorsed Non-Profit Organizations - an event must be 2 weeks prior to submitting the profile for any celebrity endorsed non profit organization profile. (HIS)

Community Events:  Local Museum and Art Gallery Events, Food Events, Empowering Workshops, Family Events, Sports, Concerts. (CE)

Twitter Leaders:   If you have information such as tips and advice, you can add your answer to the townhall.  You may click on this - find the category that you specialize in and then write your answer.  (TL)

We do not accept unsolicited press releases.  We do not accept reviews on music, books, and products.  We do not profile businesses.  We do not accept stories that are written in the first person.  We do not accept opinion pieces. We do not accept chapters from a book.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES 

  • All content should be submitted to content@planbinsider.com.  The content should be submitted in rtf or .doc format. All content must be original and not appear on any other website or publication. Please indicate in the subject line what kind of story you are submitting by indicating the initials and the title of the story.  You can find those initials by reviewing the category sections above
  • Don't forget to add your first name,  last name  and your location at the beginning or end of your article.    Please include photos in the body of your document.  Photos need to be in jpeg format. 
  • Please remember that this cannot be in the first person and you cannot write about yourself.
  • Use your best judgment when you submit your articles. We accept content in the form of articles and interview style submissions.  We cannot offer any type of editorial assistance for our community reporters at this time.  We accept only quality articles that are written by the submitter.   We only fact check, spell check, and check for plagarism.  We cannot offer any advice on your writing style.  The length should be 300-500 words.  It does not need to be double- spaced. 
  • We will email you if we use your community story with the link. 
  • We cannot make any additional changes once it is live. 
  • We do not accept any type of product/service reviews, or product/service announcements under any circumstances. 
  • We ONLY accept articles on the categories and the subtopics listed above. We have full-time reporters that cover other categories.  And those reporters do not accept unsolicited press releases.  They investigate for their assigned areas.

WANT TO WORK FOR US?

  • When we have openings, we do submit those job openings internally to our current employees and exclusively to our community reporters via electronic mail (email).  Once you submit an approved article,  you are automatically added to our job alert email database.
  • We DO NOT advertise our job openings on this site. However, we DO  advertise our job openings through other job placement firms, career centers,  and in local newspapers. 
  • We DO NOT accept unsolicited resumes or cover letters.

 

A COMMUNITY REPORTER VERSUS A STAFF REPORTER

  • A community reporter isn't required to have journalism experience or a journalism background.
  • A community reporter isn't required to have a degree in journalism and isn't required to have traditional writing experience.
  • A community reporter isn't held to any deadline requirements.
  • A community reporter isn't required to attend any staff meetings.
  • A community reporter isn't a member of our staff.  Although we give the community reporter the same amount of respect and praise for writing wonderful stories - we do not offer any form of compensation.  All writings are submitted voluntarily.
