My advice to aspiring filmmakers would be network, network, and network some more! Unlike the music business, in the film industry you stand a pretty good chance at success without nepotism. Really good screenwriters can get discovered…you just have to be in the right place, at the right time…and networking is a key way that can happen. The ability of the African American is truly limitless therefore; I know it’s only a matter of time. Content rights and catalog acquisition’s are key to that evolution. We have to keep, at least some portion of ownership from content we create.
