Michigan hip-hop and rap performers and poets will use their art to try to raise the consciousness of the black community.
 
Naeink is a local rapper who's spearheading the event.
 
"Raising Consciousness: Black Unity Rally" will be a family-friendly, public event. Its agenda includes several speakers followed by live music and poetry performances at 5 p.m. Free food and beverages will also be provided.
